One of the fresher Mandalorian squads is able to make its way to the front and opens up on Fec and his squad, but their cover is still excellent in the ruins of a destroyed APC. They can't land a hit!

That was more like it, they were shooting at him! Zephrin pressed the sword and shield squad back while deflecting some of the Blaster fire away.

It was getting messy in the trenches. Melchett yelled at the Mandalorians as he charged at them: "Mmmeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhaaaaahhhhhh!" They weren't sure what to make of that but it was very effective in drivinging them back.

Meanwhile Starling took a pot shot at the Ranged Crusader Squad with his trusty blaster, hit them, and gave Apollo a thumbs up! "We can do this damnit!"

While no more Crusaders fell Zephrin was able to take some stims during the lull and prepared for their return attack.

With one group down Terreck signaled his team to start firing at the next group. His team laying down a steady stream of fire at the entrenched Mandalorians. It seemed like they had the upper hand for the moment, but the winds of war could be a fickle thing.

Fec's squad blasts two Mandalorians off their feet as they start working their way up the line of defences, catching Crusaders in the flank! The survivors turn their guns on the incoming Republic assault squad!

Apollo continued just blasting wildly with both his pistols, favoring quantity over quality. Which meant the bolts just bounced off the Mandalorian armor this time.

"Get it together, captain!" Jenkins exclaimed.
"Ugh, just focus fire!" Leela responded.

Somewhere Kif sighed and continued to give cover-fire so they wouldn't all get gunned down.

The other Mandalorians must have not got the memo. Zephrin and his squad bought themselves just enough time to stim and regroup before the Crusaders are on them again! In the close confines of the trench swords and lightsaber clash as supports are carved clear of the mud and both sides take heavy casualties.

"That is quite enough of that." Zephrin calmly parried (3 strain) the worst of the attacks before turning the tide on the Crusaders. Switching onto the offensive he cleanly took down the Squad leader with a single strike and created an opening for Melchett to run in and bring down the last of that Squad.

Meanwhile Starling was calling out Mando positions to the other Republic teams. It might just give them the edge they needed...

Apollo was knocked to the ground with a grunt, and a part of his upper body clothing was torn and shredded to expose his wounded chest. The athletic Zeltron was back on his feet soon, going "Aaaaaaa!!!" as he continued firing wildly at the offending Mandalorians.

Jenkins, and to some degree Leela, were a bit distracted by the sigh to focus their fire as well this time, though Kif didn't disappoint. As usual.

Catching a quick breath, Apollo's fast hands holstered one pistol to free up a hand that could reach for a stim.

Apollo and his squad's covering fire (and loud taunts) were effective as one Mandalorian drops, although whether from the harsh language or harsh barrage is hard to say. The last surviving member blind fires out of cover at Fec's squad but fails to hit anything.

Starling pointed out a Squad of Crusaders with Blasters that was at full strength. Melchett pulled out a second combat knife and charged wildly at them. Zephrin calmly cut two down before they knew what had hit them. At which point it was back to the slog of fighting in close quarters in an Icy, muddy Trench.

Everyone was coated in mud. Zeph was glad of all the training that helped calm his mind in moments like this.

With most of the opponents down and the last of them being involved in a melee, Terreck drew hid Vibroknife and moved to engage with the remainder of his squad. His knife striking at the exposed vitals of the distracted Mandolorians

The last Mandalorian falls before Terreck and the battlefield goes quiet except for the wind and the cries of the wounded...and then the Hopers erupt in a roar of victory, pride and relief. The sound is so deafening that it even reaches the Mandalorians retreating away up into the skies with their jetpacks.
