Last Stand

Vala's work on the commander centre left a lot to be desired, to say the least. She imagined that if she as actually been employed and not volunteered to help, she might have been ousted from the project long ago. Not that she was a fan of seeing the same place for several days in a row and it's done much to make other rooms look more desirable. Imagine that. Meditation was never her cup of blue milk but she supposed she should give everything a try around here. Maybe it would do something to still this restlessness that was building up inside her.

Dressed comfortably in workout sweats, she meandered into the room and sat on the floor. Step one was getting here. Step two was...doing this meditation thing?

Meditation definitely wasn't on Zeline's agenda today, as much as it might have benefited her. Instead, her purpose was to do a full recount of supplies. If they were at all wrong about the impending finale, then they would need all they could scrounge up in order to survive.

So when she walked in, datapad in hand, she smirked faintly at spotting Vala. "This isn't the gym, just so you know."

Vala looked around the place and rolled her eyes at the comment. "...Ugh, oh really? Here I thought they took away all of the equipment to get them clean and sanitized. Maybe get them looking all shiny and glossy again," she said dripping with sarcasm.

"You know, I hope you have a little more respect for what you think I do at the gym. I'm not exactly the sort who just sits around the place to look pretty, snap a few pictures for added effect." She gave her top a few tugs to set it right. "They said you're supposed to be comfortable while doing this, so I'm just going to get comfortable."

"I would prefer that you sit around and look pretty," Zeline said, pursing her lips after that last bit. "My point is, it's easier to keep a model healthy than a fighter. Don't think you could live with that though."

Zeline let out a harsh sigh. "You ready for tomorrow? This part of some pre-battle ritual?"

Vala narrowed her eyes at Zeline for a moment with a questioning tilt of her head before moving on with her life after the initial comment. She gave a shake of her head at both comments. "Honestly, this is my first time trying this mediation thing. I've heard it's getting ready for a nap but you're awake throughout the whole thing. Where you're supposed to clear your head to make yourself feel better. That said, I think I typically nap well when I'm jogging something in my head to give me a headstart to dreaming."

"Tomorrow? I'll be ready as I will ever be. I'll figure I'll wing something and just do something until I make it. It seems to work around here so far. Maybe they'll put me behind another vehicle or a ship." She smirked on that note.

"Kind of hard to meditate when you're talking to somebody. I'll be out of your way soon," Zeline said, waving her datapad around. "Until that's done, though, you're stuck with me."

The mention of a vehicle made her shake her head. "Is there a Corellian who doesn't like to fly something?"

Vala gave a hapless wave off to dismiss that concern. She stood up with a laboured sigh, shaking one leg when she got to her feet. "Nah, don't bother going away for this mediation business. I think I'm going to throw in the towel and give up on this thing. My foot is starting to feel pins and needles and I think any longer, my legs aren't going to feel anything at all. I'm not so sure that's the intended result."

She frowned at that before crossing her arms. "There are...I'm more of a driver than a flyer, myself. Many of us just happen to own compact and slow speeders that we use to get around in our day-to-day, as well as the tight quarters of an industrial city. Sure, we get exposure to all sorts of ships and rides but we don't exactly get the chance to drive most of them."

"I think the entire point is to let go of physical concerns. And mental ones. All of them, really." Zeline shrugged since most of her attempts to do the same had been through using drugs.

"Ah, don't worry, I'm not judging you too harshly for how you were brought up. I've seen my fair share of vehicles I wanted to even sit in." It was easy for a young girl to dream of being whisked away by one of the gilded speeders that passed by on a way to a scenic getaway.

Though dwelling on her memories wasn't her style. "You became a cop... to help your people, yeah? Your planet? What do you like most about it?"

"I can get trying to do one or the other but both? That's probably asking too much to happen without being a Jedi and being mundanely mortal. I think I'll just be happy with trying to walk this one off," she said as she started to pace around the room, walking with a slight gait momentarily until she managed to shake off the feeling in a short amount of time. "But yeah, so you get the whole thing about always seeing something but never getting to rid of it. It's not like many Corellians are able to get in a cockpit. Heck, many might not even make it past the atmosphere."

Vala let out a deep sigh as she was asked that question, a bit of a loss of how to explain herself here. "...I don't think there's all that much I like about doing it but you've kind of hit the nail on the head earlier. I'm a cop to help people. I'm sure most Corellians aren't going to give a second thought about upsetting anyone else, so it's probably more about preventing people from upsetting themselves down the line when they do something that they regret later on."
