D4MA - Research Breakthrough (Combat)

Research Breakthrough
Hapunn Forn is working on something. Intelligence is sketchy at best but expensive components and Crusader scientists have been tracked to a converted warehouse factory that used to serve the Centithii Mining Consortium Site. Reports indicate they are developing a weapon to surpass our Jedi Gear. Command has decided that a small strike team can storm the factory as diversionary attacks draw defenders away throughout the nearby area. You are that strike team. Force your way past the factory’s defences find out whatever they’re working on, and shut it down.
This combat event is open to four PCs. The team has been granted a TX-225 Tank so it is highly recommended one of these be a driver.
Location: Approach along road to Centithii Mining Consortium warehouse factory. Cover is limited and the Neo-Crusaders have a series of bunkers on either side of the road.
Premise: Breakthrough the Mandalorian defences, reach the factory and then neutralise the project within. Defeating all the Crusaders present is not necessary but is considered a bonus.The players have access to a TX-225 FAVw Occupier Assault Tank (room for 4) stats below.
Opposition: Two enemy emplacements to break through. Each includes 2 All Terrain Defense Pod Walkers and one bunker containing a squad of Mandalorians with access to anti vehicle weapons. To reach short distance to either emplacement a series of tank traps must be navigated require a hard piloting planetary check with a setback dice ◆◆◆ ■. Failure means the tank cannot advance past that point and causes 3 points of system strain to the vehicle.
PCs can choose to either start inside the tank or running along behind or beside it. They are at medium range to the first emplacement, which will then be at medium range to the second. As a slow assault vehicle the tank moves at on foot speeds. PCs can fire the tank's weapons with gunnery checks as normal.

It might have been a Corellian stereotype but living in a place filled with shipyards and factories meant that you had to know a thing or two about driving. The other stereotype was getting in trouble when you were behind the wheel but when you were expected to drive headlong into it?
Vala got into the cramped confines of the tank and radioed everyone around her, perhaps pre-warning them. "This isn't quite my hatchback back home but it looks like it could take quite a few dings if anything should happen."

"At least two or three." As long as things didn't go horribly wrong. Sitting at one of the Laser Cannon's Fec kept his eyes on the view screen as they moved forwards. Hopefully the opposition wasn't too tough, and they wouldn't take many dings at all. That was likely just wishful thinking though.

Guess the Republic was low on staff at the moment, because why else would the himbo be here.

Zephrin sensed that he might be needed on this mission, which was odd considering he was so bad with vehicles that his former master had banned him from ever driving anything. So he stayed outside, running along behind the tank just in case anyone tried anything sneaky.
The only noticeable change in his equipment was that he had borrowed a toolkit from the base, just in case. His comlink was set to the same channel as those inside the vehicle.
"I hope it's nice and warm in there? A little frosty out here but it's sure to heat up once we get close to those bunkers..."

As the tank rolls forward through the snow its sensors soon ping. Enemy contact! The first set of defences was ahead, Mandalorians scrambling into their walkers to meet your advance.
Time to show them what a Republic tank can do.

"Well, if it gets too cold I'm sure we can hop out and start a fire or something." Or just set fire to enemy vehicles, that would likely be fun.
Joking around was perhaps not for the best though as it distracted Fec from the job at hand.

The Crusaders are caught completely by surprised (high-speed tank?) with both the walkers slow to react, only the ground troops are moving with any real focus as they start setting up an anti-vehicle launcher! (triumph used for them to aim)

"Oh hey, I think we're getting close," Apollo noticed from one of the sensors. With gusto and bravado, he climbed up the hatch and swung it open to get a better look.
"Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my co----! *cough* *hack* *wheeze*! Ugh! BUG!" The poor captain's obscenities was blocked by swallowing some random insect that normally would've just splattered on the windshield.

Spotting the Crusaders readying their launcher Zephrin ran ahead to distract them with his laser sword. In fact he just chopped clean through the barrel of the launcher.
"Hello there. This is where I offer to let you all surrender and come quietly."
He settled into his stance and awaited the inevitable response.

The walker ducks under Vala's shot before opening up with its own heavy guns, landing several heavy blows on the tank, sparks spray and warning alarms ring. One of the guns is also struck and fails with a whine.

The rocking of the tank sent Terricks shot wide. He did manage to provide some distracting fire though, hopefully throwing off further shots from the walkers.
