D1 - Power to the People (All Day Event)

Power to the People
The Concord Dawn might have survived its crash landing onto Obroa-Skai, but she won’t last much longer if she’s targeted by the Mandalorian fleet. Fortunately, the nearby town of Kandra’s Run has a generator that could maybe power a portable shield generator powerful enough to ward off bombardment. But coaxing the rusty old generator to provide that sort of power without exploding will be no simple task.
This all day event is open to all PCs, each PC who participates must roll for all 3 steps.
Advantage and Disadvantage are turned into boost and setback for that character’s next roll at a rate of 2 to 1. Despair upgrades the difficulty of the character’s next roll. Triumph upgrades the PC’s skill pool for their next roll.
Victory and Defeat
If the PCs collect 50 Power Points the shield generator will be fully operational. Not only will this prevent everyone dying from orbital bombardment, but The Hopers earn 4 Liberation Points!
If the PCs collect 30 Power Points the shield generator will be fully operational. Not only will this prevent (most) everyone dying to orbital bombardment, but The Hopers earn 2 Liberation Points.
If the PCs fail to collect 30 or more Power Points the Concord Dawn suffers extensive bombardment before a crew is able to get the shields partially working. One room will be destroyed and require repair before becoming operational again.
Step 1: How do we get there?
Simply transporting power to the ship will be no easy task. A cable over half a mile long needs to be rigged that can handle the massive power load of a shield.
PCs can roll either computers or mechanics at average with one setback dice from the harsh conditions to help lay the cable ◆◆■. Alternatively they can roll Leadership at hard to convince some of the townsfolk to help . Success and every two further successes grants a power point.
Step 2: Plug and Play
Once the ship has access to a stable source of power the ship’s damaged shield generators need to be made operational again. No easy task after the damage from the battle and subsequent landing.
PCs can help remove debris by hand with an athletics roll at average with one setback dice from the harsh conditions ◆◆■. Alternatively they can use their knowledge of the ship’s layout to bypass damaged systems with an average Piloting - Space (Using the intellect characteristic): roll ◆◆. Success and every two further successes grants a power point.
Step 3: Power to the People
Now it’s the moment of truth. The shield generator is now working (mostly) and has power (sort of). But managing the inevitable power surges as it fires up will be the hard part.
PCs can assist the techs managing the shield generator’s computer, doing their best to match the software to the improvised hardware. This is a computers roll at average with a setback from the conditions and an upgrade from the time constraint ⬟◆■. Alternatively the PCs can do their best to try and spot spot any visible power surges or electrical fires and report them before the situations gets out of hand. This is a hard vigilance or perception check with one upgrade from the time pressure ⬟◆◆. Success and every two further successes grants a power point.
